Enjoy the tour to eastern
Balinese Royal Palaces. This tour highlights Karangasem and
Gianyar, two of a dozen independent little radjadoms in the
past that struggled intermittently with each other for power
over the various regions, a situation that the Dutch colonialist
were soon to capitalize on. Eight of these surviving radjadoms
still exist in a different form, but only a few numbers of
Royal Palaces we offer, namely: Karangasem Palace. Here you
can see the close European connection in the architecture
of the Puri Kanginan Palace which is a strange combination
of design from Europe, China and Bali. The main building called
"Bale London". This tour will be combined to visit
to Tirta Gangga a place where you can find a series of pools
and fountains decorated by strange statues. Beside that, our
expert guide will explain you more detail of the Karangasem
rajadom. Then drive through to visit Royal Family in Gianyar.
Fearing further opposition, the new raja Dewa Manggis allied
himself with the Dutch, and in 1900 Gianyar was accepted as
a Dutch Protectorate. Under this arrangement, Gianyar prospered,
as the Dutch continued their efforts to subdue the rest of
southern Bali. The palace of Puri Gianyar became an elite
centre of social life, with the effect that the arts of the
area received more attention by royal patronage than ever
before, and a great blossoming of artistic activities took
place within the region. During this time western artists
Walter Spies and Rudolf Bonnet came to live in the area and
also greatly influenced the development of the arts.

Have the chance to see
the western Balinese Royal Palaces! The Regency of Tabanan
in the west has a turbulent history not unlike that of its
neighbours. According to rather hazy accounts, the first Raja
of Tabanan Arya Damar was appointed by the fallen Majapahit
Emperor, who assigned him an extensive kingdom consisting
of Tabanan and Mengwi. Once a minor court attached to the
royal family of Tabanan, the village of Kerambitan, not far
off the main road to the southwest, has two rambling Puri
Palace complexes. In elegant architectural style, pavilions
are laid out in a series of spacious courtyards according
to their traditional function, such as the venue to entertain
traditional dances and orchestra. Here regular performances
of the Tektekan, a stunning creation which derives from the
Calon Arang drama of exorcism, are held complete with realistic
trance and fear some kris-stabbings. This tour will be combined
by visiting: Mengwi, Alas Kedaton and Tanah Lot.
